“Lade hier, lade da” (“Charge here, charge there”) is a commercial about an animated power socket celebrating its newfound freedom, thanks to the nationwide expansion of charging infrastructure. Once stuck in a complicated relationship with hard-to-reach charging stations, it’s now in power mode: with more than 9,000 charging points at over 1,000 locations, the Germany Network finally offers the flexibility and accessibility that e-car drivers have been longing for.
Set to the beat of Cristy Water’s iconic song “Gypsy Woman”, the socket sings its anthem of independence: “Lade hier, lade da.” The message is clear: no more range anxiety or charging frustration – now you can charge wherever and whenever you want. A commercial that tells the story of the love between socket and charging station while highlighting the expansion of the Germany Network.
Personal note – Working on “Lade hier, lade da” was one of my first real dives into animation – and, in a way, my personal homage to the two characters from Kinderschokolade. Together with the great director Niklas Coskan, we had the freedom to shape this lighthearted love story between a power socket and charging stations, set to this iconic beat. I still hum "lade hier, lade da” whenever I hear the original song.
